Puma unveils bold Ghana 2026 World Cup kits inspired by Ananse and Makola
Sportswear giant Puma has unveiled the new kits for Ghana ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, opting for a culturally inspired design that blends tradition with modern performance aesthetics.
The launch, held at Domino Square in New York City as part of a “Rolling Nations” street activation, marked a departure from conventional stadium reveals, instead placing Ghanaian identity and global street culture at the centre of the unveiling.
The new home kit retains the country’s traditional white base but introduces a bold artistic concept rooted in folklore. Designed around a cobweb motif, the shirt draws direct inspiration from Kwaku Ananse, the legendary spider figure in West African storytelling, symbolising wisdom, creativity and resilience.

The intricate pattern is formed with interwoven lines in red, yellow, green and blue, reflecting the colours of the national flag while projecting a vibrant visual identity. The iconic Black Star sits prominently at the centre of the chest, alongside the Puma logo and the Ghana Football Association crest, with a contrasting black collar completing the design.
In contrast, the away kit adopts a striking “Sunny Yellow” base, inspired by the energy and dynamism of Accra’s Makola Market. The jersey features detailed tonal patterns incorporating traditional Adinkra symbols and geometric elements influenced by Kente cloth, reinforcing Ghana’s cultural heritage on a global platform.
Dark green side panels and sleeves provide contrast to the bright yellow body, while a bold red collar ties the national colours together. Like the home shirt, the away kit also features the Black Star centrally positioned, maintaining a consistent visual identity across both designs.
The new kits are expected to be worn by the Black Stars during their campaign at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, where Ghana will be aiming to make a strong impression both on and off the pitch.
