Andy Owusu's election as NPP UK Chairman timely for party's 2028 comeback – Richard Agyare

A former Deputy Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) East London Chapter, Richard Agyare, has described the election of Andy Owusu as NPP-UK Branch Chairman as timely, following a peaceful poll on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

Speaking to the media after the declaration of results, the immediate-past Deputy Secretary said Mr Owusu's background as a social protection expert with a deep commitment to youth empowerment would serve as a bedrock for a formidable NPP as the party repositions itself for a comeback with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in 2028.

"Andy Owusu's election as NPP-UK Branch Chairman is timely," Mr Agyare, affectionately known as Nana Poku, said. "His background as a social protection expert with deep commitment to youth empowerment at home and abroad is the bedrock for the NPP repositioning to recapture power with flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in 2028."

He has therefore called on all and sundry in the party to rally behind Chairman Andy Owusu to fulfil his campaign message of "Remember, Respect and Reward," which includes putting members first, empowering the youth, strengthening chapters, improving welfare and mobilising resources in building a party that leaves no member behind.

"Back home in Ghana, we are electing our Regional and National Executives on Saturday, August 15 and October 3, respectively. I urge all my fellow patriots to continue to conduct themselves well in ensuring smooth exercises in the best interest of our great NPP," Mr Agyare added.
