ANGELINA Jolie has said she'd be ready to pursue a political career - if she could make a difference.

The 39-year-old Hollywood star and United Nations Special Envoy said she didn't know what her future held.

But she told ITV News at Ten's Julie Etchingham: "I've always gone wherever I felt I was needed.

"When I started working with the UN, I felt I loved working in the field and I felt I was useful in the field.

"And then there was a point where I realised that I was only so useful in the field because someone had to go to Washington and plead the case.

"And so then I would do that," she added.

The Maleficent actress, who directed new film Unbroken and recently hinted she could be ready to give up acting, said "You have to step forward and put yourself forward.

"I don't know what that means or where that will lead me but I want to be effective, to help to make a change. In whatever way I'm useful I will do."

Asked if that meant moving into politics in future, the mother-of-six replied: "If I felt I could really make a difference, yes'."
