Joseph Matthew: I’m still a gospel artiste
UK based Ghanaian gospel singer, Joseph Matthew unveiled his latest single, Love in You, on Saturday, March 1.
However, the song's lyrics have raised eyebrows, with some questioning whether it aligns with traditional gospel music values.
Joseph Matthew pours his heart out, singing about his unwavering devotion to Maabena, whose unconditional love has captivated him.
He vows to go to great lengths to prove his love and commitment to her, undeterred by the challenges that may threaten their relationship.

The mid-tempo reggae tune takes listeners on the beautiful love story shared between two souls, with its soothing melody and heartfelt lyrics.
Despite this, Joseph Matthew maintains his new release is still rooted in his gospel music philosophy.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Joseph Matthew reaffirmed his commitment to creating music that inspires and uplifts, dispelling any suggestion that may have suggested otherwise.
Over the years, his songs such as Halleluyah, Nyame Ye, My Story, Not Alone and The Name has become a source of comfort, inspiration, and joy for countless fans across the country and beyond.
"I'm still a gospel artiste. I hate to say that religious people, especially people of Christian faith are the most judgmental. We are always quick to dissociate ourselves from people who don’t share our beliefs, doctrines and way of life.
“Love in You is about love and the ultimate model of love was set by Christ. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us according to 1 John 3:16 so I’m just explaining that in my song.
“It’s also dedicated to that special someone which everyone has in their lives,” he stated.
Even though he has been plying his trade in the UK, Joseph Matthew is making steady progress back home.
In 2022, Joseph was emboldened to host his maiden concert at the Perez Dome and performed at the Tema Praise Street festival in December last year.
His style is an infusion of what he says is neotonic Afrobeats, rap and contemporary Highlife.
