Lil Win to drop new movie in honour of Daddy Lumba, social media reacts

Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has announced a new movie titled "Me Kum Me ho Ma' Nipa" directed by Kwasi Badu.

The movie's release comes as a tribute to the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, who passed away recently.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Lil Win urged his fans and the general public not to let rivalry or differences overshadow the love and respect they have for the legendary musician.

He emphasized the importance of projecting Daddy Lumba's legacy and ensuring his music continues to live on in their hearts.

He wrote, “Let’s not allowed any rivalry takes away the love we have for our legend the late

Mr. CHARLES KWADWO FOSU (DADDY LUMBA) let’s keep projecting his legacy and he will continue to lives forever in our hearts ❤️ 🙏

Let’s all watch this great movie as a farewell from the WEZZY EMPIRE C.E.O MR. KWADWO NKANSAH LILWIN to the legend DADDY LUMBA 😭 🙏 🙏(sic)”.

However, the announcement has sparked controversy among fans and critics on social media, given the past feud between Lil Win and Daddy Lumba's family.

Notably, Lil Win had previously claimed that Daddy Lumba had laid an embargo on a film he wanted to release while Daddy Lumba was alive. Critics believe that Lil Win's decision to release a movie so soon after Daddy Lumba's passing, featuring Great Ampong, who wasn't on good terms with the deceased is a sign of disrespect.

The upcoming movie, "Me Kum Me ho Ma' Nipa", boasts an impressive cast, including Bill Asamoah, Vivian Jill, and Akrobeto.

This isn't the first time Lil Win has faced backlash for his projects. Recall that his movie "Ibrahim Traore" premiered on August 2, 2025, the same day as Daddy Lumba's candlelight vigil, sparking outrage among fans and critics. Despite the controversy, the movie drew thousands of fans to the cinema.

Lil Win has since clarified that his frustration wasn't about the movie's success, but about missing the opportunity to pay his respects to Daddy Lumba. "I wanted to be at Lumba's vigil and not left out," he explained. "I didn't mention it because of my movie, but because I'm a huge fan of Daddy Lumba and I deeply admire him."
