Maame Efua Houadjeto appointed GTA CEO
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Maame Efua Houadjeto as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
Maame Afua takes over from Mr Akwasi Agyeman who resigned last week.
Maame Efua Houadjeto boasts an impressive political background, having served as the Deputy Women's Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and even running as the party's Parliamentary Candidate for the Mfantsiman Constituency in the 2024 elections.
With thunderous applause marking Kwasi Agyeman's exit from his role as CEO of GTA, it appears Maame Afua will be filling the big shoes left behind by the latter. As one of 13 agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is committed to developing tourism in a way that's good for the environment, the community, and the economy.
To achieve this goal, the GTA is focusing on several key areas. First, they're harnessing the power of technology and ICT to drive innovation and improvement in the tourism sector. They're also working to regulate and standardize tourism practices, ensuring that visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience.
But the GTA knows that they can't do it alone. That's why they're building partnerships with other agencies, businesses, and stakeholders to promote tourism and drive economic growth. They're also investing in aggressive marketing and promotion efforts to put Ghana on the map as a top tourist destination.
The Ghana Tourism Authority is also a key player in the area of sustainability and believes in leading in roles that create positive change in society. Its contribution cuts across spears and involves several partners through the platforms and avenues we create.
