Miss Ghana home to rousing welcome

Ms Shooter, who placed third at the just-ended Miss World pageant in Indonesia, was welcomed amidst pomp and pageantry by a large delegation of family and love ones that gathered at the VVIP Lounge .

After placing third at the global stage, Ms Shooter also becomes the 63rd Continental Queen of Africa.

Addressing journalists on arrival, Naa Shooter expressed appreciation to Ghanaians for their support adding that "making it to the top is not only a dream come true but it is for all Ghanaians.

"What remains with me through this entire whirlwind is the relentless support I have received from my country," she said.

The elated Miss World/Africa, thanked God and the Ghanaian public for believing in her and said that prayers and well wishes had brought her this far.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, who was on the entourage of the beauty queen, congratulated her and urged her to be a role model for other young women who aspired to be beauty queens.

She noted that her performance at the world stage had lifted the image of Ghana high and had the potential to attract more tourists into the country.

The La Dadekotopon Municipal Chief Executive, Ms Rita Sowah, who was also at the airport to welcome her, lauded Naa Shooter for her performance at the world competition.

Miss Philippines, Megan Young, was crowned Miss World 2013, on Indonesia's resort island of Bali.

Miss France, Marine Lorphelin, 20, took second place, while Miss Ghana, Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter, 22, placed third.
