Naa Agyeman, Samini ‘preach’ Pay Your Tax

WHEN two music stars join forces on a track, their fans can expect nothing short of a masterpiece and that is what Highlife musician Naa Agyeman and Reggae/Dancehall great Samini are serving on Pay Your Tax.

Pay Your Tax was produced by CR4 Entertainment and released on March 19, 2025.

The song opens with Samini’s signature hook, followed by the intro of Naa Agyeman’s classic Kwahu Bepo single.

Beyond its musical appeal, Pay Your Tax carries a strong message, urging Ghanaians to fulfill their civic duty by paying taxes to support national development.

In an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, March 24, 2025, Naa Agyeman explained why he chose to highlight this issue through music.

"I firmly believe that music is a potent tool for education, capable of conveying complex messages in an engaging and memorable way. “When people enjoy a catchy song, they're more likely to absorb its lyrics and retain the message. This is especially true when songs tackle important social issues, making them a valuable asset for educating the masses.

“Take, for instance, the topic of taxation, paying taxes is often viewed as the duty of a select few, but it's our collective duty and very essential for driving national growth and development. “Imagine a song that not only encourages citizens to fulfill their tax obligations but also explains the benefits of taxation in a clear and concise manner.

“Such a song could inspire a sense of civic responsibility and that is why I am using this new single to emphasise the significance of taxation”, he said.

Touching on his decision to feature Samini on a Highlife song despite the latter’s Reggae/Dancehall background, he explained Samini’s voice and delivery perfectly complemented the song’s message.

Additionally, he revealed that collaborating with Samini was a long-standing promise he had made over a decade ago.

"Samini brings a unique energy to any project, and I knew he was the right fit. Besides, this collaboration was long overdue—I promised to feature him over a decade ago, and I’m glad we finally made it happen”, he disclosed.

Naa Agyeman, known for hits such as Slow Motion, began his musical journey in the late 90s. He dropped his debut Araba in 2000, followed by Mr. Ode in 2002, Kwame Ahe in 2004, and Kwahu Bepo in 2006.

After a lengthy hiatus to focus on other ventures, he returned with Mmbaa Pe in 2019.
