
Nineteen57 to host BlackStar Legacy awards
Nineteen57 events, organisers of Rhythms on Da Runway has announced plans to host BlackStar Legacy awards to celebrate and honour individuals who have contributed to Ghana’s creative industry.
The awards ceremony, which was started in 2019 as part of the activities of Rhythms on Da Runway similarly falls in line with Nineteen57’s commitment to highlight the achievements and contributions of Ghanaian creatives in the fashion and entertainment industries, while providing a platform to celebrate excellence and innovation.
Distinguished personalities such as Obrafour, Ricci Osei, Hon. Lisa Hanna, Reggie Rockstone, Nene Agyemang, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Morgan Heritage, Stonebwoy, and Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe Damijo(RMD) have been recipients of BlackStar Legacy awards.
Last year, Agya Koo Nimo, Asabea Cropper, Kwabena Kwabena, Nigerian entrepreneur, Chief Momodo Dele and Bibie Brew were also honoured with BlackStar Legacy awards.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Media Relations Officer for Nineteen57 Events, Edem Mensah Tsotorme, said the BlackStar Legacy awards was started in 2019 in support of the Year of Return celebration to highlight remarkable achievements in creative arts, culture, and beyond.
“As the Black Star Legacy Awards grows in scope and ambition, Nineteen57 Events is excited to announce its transition to an independent, standalone event. The initiative is to expand the company’s focus by honouring excellence across various fields, including business, leadership, innovation, science, and humanitarian efforts.
“This bold move aligns with the awards’ mission of celebrating the spirit of achievement and innovation that defines Ghana and connects it to the broader Pan-African and global community,” he said.
Mr Tsotorme also noted that the team is working to provide details of the awards scheme including selection of categories in the coming weeks.
