There is no favoritism at Mavin Records — Don Jazzy.

Mavin Records founder and music executive Don Jazzy has denied claims that the label favors some artistes over others, saying it makes no financial sense to do so.

In a candid appearance on the Crea8torium podcast, the veteran producer argued that no serious business would pour resources into signing and developing talent only to sideline them later deliberately.

"We do see lots of comments that we do not prioritise some artistes. But that isn't true," he said, adding that the label's investments are made with the expectation of returns for both the company and the artistes themselves.

Don Jazzy further clarified that when certain Mavin artistes appear less active than others, that is rarely a decision handed down by management. In most cases, he said, the artistes themselves choose to release music at a slower pace.

"If you see an artiste in Mavin and the artiste only releases one or two songs in a year, just know that it is the artiste's decision," he explained.

Beyond output and promotion, the label boss also pointed to the psychological pressures that come with being in the music industry, noting that imposter syndrome is a common but often overlooked factor behind such perceptions.

"Most of them actually have imposter syndrome. It's normal. We are all human beings, so sometimes they can panic and overthink things," he acknowledged.
