
Tourism Minister pays tribute to Daddy Lumba
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has extended her condolences following the passing of Ghanaian music icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
In a statement issued by the Ministry, Ms Gomashie described the legendary Highlife musician as “more than a musician; he was a cultural force.”
She noted that Daddy Lumba’s timeless compositions, unforgettable melodies, and unique lyrical style had elevated Ghanaian Highlife music to new heights, helping to shape its evolution and draw international attention to the country’s rich musical heritage.
“His influence inspired generations, and his work became the soundtrack to the lives of many Ghanaians, both at home and in the diaspora,” the statement read.
The Minister further highlighted Daddy Lumba’s role as a global ambassador for Ghana, stating that whether performing on local stages or before international audiences, he consistently showcased the soul of the nation with pride, dignity, and excellence.
“His legacy will forever remain a cornerstone of Ghanaian culture and the creative arts,” Ms Gomashie affirmed.
Daddy Lumba, whose career spanned over four decades, is widely regarded as one of the greatest Highlife musicians in Ghana’s history, with a musical repertoire that deeply resonated with generations.
