Black Sherif is trending as a top contender for the TGMA 2026 Artiste of the Year award, and he's responding with confidence.
In a recent interview on Hitz FM, when asked about the speculation, he smiled and said,
"We deserve it, don't you think?" he replied confidently, prompting laughter from others in the room.
He emphasized that winning would be a validation for his fans, who've been supporting him throughout his journey
He added that earning the awards would serve as a validation for his fans and the hard work they put into supporting him.
"My fans will be happy. And the award, if I want it, I want it for the fans. It is a validation for them. My own validation is in the music I compose,” he said.
He stressed that awards are cool, but what's most important to him is staying true to his art and vibing with his fans.
On Friday, November 7, the nominations list for 2026 Grammy Awards was released with a handful of Nigerian Afrobeat superstars nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Davido and Omah Lay made the cut for their collaboration on ‘With You’ for Best African Music Performance.
The category also sees ‘Love’ by Burna Boy and ‘Gimme Dat’ by Ayra Starr and Wizkid nominated.
Burna Boy, who already has a Grammy to his name, was nominated for the Best Global Music Album for ‘No Sign of Weakness’.
On the show, Black Sherif disclosed that he made entry for Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance.
“I would have been happy if I were nominated but I’m not even bothered that I didn’t get the nomination,” he started.
In 2023, the Sacrifice crooner won the Best International Flow award at the BET Hip Hop Awards, becoming the second Ghanaian artiste to clinch the title after Sarkodie’s win in 2019.
Known for his emotionally resonant lyrics, viral anthems, and strong fan connection, Black Sherif’s rise has been meteoric.
