2016 Elections: Social Media poses a major threat to national security

The much anticipated Amenfi West by-election is over but not without leaving a footprint of thought worth considering and pondering.

With some few months to go into the general elections, the Amenfi West by-elections can be seen as a harbinger of what to expect during the 2016 electioneering period.

I therefore find it prudent to raise some genuine concerns about the recently held by-elections based on my observations. 

I would spare you the details of “Immoral Authority” displayed in a bid to win more votes and concentrate on the “churned-out-results” but not before I tell the role of the Electoral commission here.

The Electoral Commission (EC) according to Article 45 of the 1992 Constitution has the following functions.

1. To compile the register of voters and revise it at such periods as may be determined by law.

2. To demarcate the electoral boundaries for national and local government elections.
