Women and the make-it-happen agenda
At a Zonta Club Accra fundraising event last Saturday to raise funds for the phase two of a home for battered women, sited at Amanfro in the Greater-Accra Region, the President of the club, Mrs Vida Sunkwa-Mills, reminded the gathering of the Zonta Rose Day.
The day coincides annually with the International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8. Both days seek to commemorate the contributions of women in society and highlight what more needs to be done by way of empowerment.
The work of Zonta is to help empower women in the society through service and advocacy. The guest of honour at the special fundraising event was Mrs Kate Quartey-Papafio, the CIMG Marketing Woman of the Year and CEO of Reroy Cables Ltd. She challenged women to do more wherever they found themselves because they were capable of achieving results. She used the occasion to wish Ghanaian women a happy Women’s Day and encouraged them to be bold and resilient.
