Books for spelling contest participants

Pupils of some selected schools in Cape Coast proudly displaying boxes of books presented to them by the Ghana Book Trust for participating in a spelling contest organised by the Grantangelus Foundation.
The schools are Kwaprow M/A, St Nicholas Anglican, Cape Coast Presby, St Mary’s, Ayifua Anglican, Rev Alec Jones, St Monica’s Girls’, Kakomdo M/A, Wesley Girls’ Basic School, Ghana National Basic School, Apewosika M/A and Efutu M/A.
The Chief Executive Officer of Grantangelus Foundation, Mr Francis Grant Mensah, urged teachers to promote reading in the local languages among the students.
“It is sad that most Ghanaians cannot read, speak and write in their local languages,” he added.
