Ghana for beach soccer tourney

Ghana will renew its soccer rivalry with Cote d’Ivoire when the two countries meet in the 2016 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations in Lagos, Nigeria next month.

The tournament begins on Tuesday, December 13 and ends on Sunday, December 18. Eight countries; Ghana, Nigeria, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Morocco, Madagascar and Libya, will take part in the competition.

Ghana will play her first match against Cote d’Ivoire on December 13. In other matches, Nigeria will play Egypt while Madagascar will lock horns with Libya. In yet another match, Senegal will play Morocco.

The tournament is to determine the best beach soccer nation in Africa. It also doubles as a qualification event for the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, with the two finalists progressing to the finals in the Bahamas.

This will be the first time that the tournament is being held in Nigeria.
