Hannah wins Citi Fm’s Write Away Contest
A pupil of the Beacon School, Hannah Yeboah, has been crowned the Overall Winner of Citi Fm’s Write Away Contest.
For her prize, she took home GH¢5,000, a medal, a branded Moneygram school bag containing stationery while her school was presented with GH¢1,000.
The second, third, fourth and fifth placed winners were each given GH¢4,000, GH¢3,000, GH¢2,000 and GH¢1,000 respectively. They were each presented with medals and branded Moneygram school bags containing stationery.
The topic of the writing contest which ended with the phrase, “Fortune Favours the Bold”, saw over 1,000 entries out of which 20 were shortlisted for the grand final.
Each of the finalists was awarded GH¢500 in addition to the prizes they won.
Citi Fm’s contest was purposely to help highlight, hone, nurture and develop writing skills and creativity in children.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Ms Dzifa Gomashie, said, “life is about rising, falling and rising again”, and, therefore, urged the children to continue reading and aim higher.
The Colombian Ambassador to Ghana, Ms Claudia Quintero, who congratulated the finalists for their hard work, encouraged them to read wide to improve on their communication skills.
The Chief Examiner of the programme, Mr Anis Haffar said “reading will take you to every place in the world”.
