Opoku Ware JHS marks AU Day in style
On May 25, the Opoku Ware M/A Junior High School at Santasi, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region celebrated African Union Day to share in the joy of the unity among African states.
Students displayed the flags of various African states as the headmistress, Mrs Anastasia Bediako-Amoa, gave her remarks.
During the ceremony, old students of the school (OBOSA), presented the school with some musical instruments and financial support to some brilliant needy students to aid them in their educational journey.

The parents of the beneficiary students expressed their joy for the assistance. The programme ended on a high note with a quiz competition among sections of the school with Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s section emerging winners.

In a related development, the school won a debate competition organised for public schools of the Santasi Circuit of the Kumasi Metro Education Unit.
The final contest was between the Opoku Ware M/A JHS and the Fankyenebra M/A JHS. t was on the motion: Corporal punishment should be reintroduced in the pre-tertiary schools in Ghana.
