Visually impaired student steals show

The Head Prefect of the Okuapeman School in the Eastern Region, Master Emmanuel Gerald Arhin, a visually impaired student, won the hearts of guests at the recently held 57th Speech and Prize–giving Day ceremony with a well delivered address from memory instead of using the brail.

His articulation caught the guests, including the Chief of Mamfe, Nana Ansah Sasraku III, spell-bound as they kept nodding and at the end of his speech gave him a standing ovation which lasted almost five minutes.

As if that was not enough, the other visually impaired students also mesmerised the guests with melodious tunes that virtually shook the foundations of the D.D. Dadey Assembly Hall where the programme was held.

In his address, Master Arhin said the road network in the school was not up to standard and, therefore, posed problems to the free movements of students, particularly those who were visually impaired.

He, therefore, called on stakeholders of the school and other corporate bodies to help address the problem.

He thanked all those who had contributed in diverse ways to make the school one of the best in the country.
