GES sets 2026 BECE for May 4–11

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will take place from Monday, May 4 to Monday, May 11, 2026.

The examination marks a critical transition for Junior High School (JHS) students moving on to secondary education.

In a statement issued on 12 July, the GES stressed the importance of strictly following the academic calendar, which includes the observance of all public holidays and two-day mid-term breaks each term.

The Head of Public Relations at GES, Daniel Fenyi, called on school heads, teachers, parents, and guardians to take note of the examination dates and begin adequate preparation to ensure a smooth academic process for learners.

The release also commended stakeholders for their collective efforts in successfully concluding the 2024/2025 academic year, which officially ends on 24 July 2025.

As the new academic year approaches, the GES reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively with all partners to ensure effective teaching and learning across Ghana’s basic education system.
