FuelTrade supports GETFund fundraising with GH¢1 million

The FuelTrade Ghana Limited, a Ghanaian-owned Bulk Distribution Company (BDC), has donated GH¢1,000,000 to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

The donation forms part of GETFund’s efforts to diversify its funding sources through strategic partnerships with the private sector.

It represents the first major corporate partnership secured by GETFund’s newly established Fundraising and Scholarship Department.

FuelTrade commitment

The donated amount, which was communicated in a letter signed and issued by the Deputy Director of Finance of FuelTrade, Baffour Appiah Danquah, and addressed to the Administrator of GETFund, Paul Adjei, explained that the company was pleased to confirm its intention and commitment to collaborate with GETFund through the fundraising team.

“We consider this partnership an opportunity to support impactful and sustainable educational interventions, particularly in the areas of scholarship provision and infrastructure development, which are essential to the empowerment and progress of young Ghanaians.

“In furtherance of this commitment, we are happy to donate GH¢1,000,000 to support this cause,” the letter stated, adding that the collaboration aligned strongly with its broader corporate values and corporate social responsibility (CSR) philosophy.

It said Fueltrade remained firmly dedicated to investing in the communities in which it operated and to supporting initiatives that promoted long-term socio-economic development.

The letter said education, being a foundational pillar for national transformation, continued to be an important area of interest and priority for the company.

Mr Adjei, reacting to the donation, expressed appreciation to FuelTrade Ghana Limited, a key player in the downstream petroleum sector, for the support.

He described the contribution as a demonstration of corporate responsibility and confidence in education as a driver of national development.

Mr Adjei stated that the donation aligned with GETFund’s vision of improving access to quality education through the provision of infrastructure and strengthening the learning environment for students across the country.

He also called on other corporate organisations and stakeholders to partner GETFund to support education delivery nationwide, stressing the importance of private sector involvement in addressing infrastructure gaps within the education sector.

Tax exemption

As part of the partnership framework, Mr Adjei said GETFund had worked with the Ghana Revenue Authority to ensure that donations to the fund qualified for tax deductions under the Income Tax Act, 2015 (Act 896).

He explained that such an arrangement enabled corporate organisations to fulfil their corporate social responsibility commitments while supporting national education priorities.

Mr Adjei assured FuelTrade Ghana Limited and the general public that the donation would be utilised with efficiency and full accountability, adding that regular updates and impact reports would be shared through GETFund’s official platforms.

“GETFund expresses gratitude to FuelTrade Ghana Limited for the contribution and encourages other organisations and individuals to support efforts aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure nationwide,” the GETFund Administrator said.
