SIIMT University College graduates 50 IT trainees

SIIMT University College has held its third graduation ceremony, awarding diplomas and degrees to 50 students trained in various fields of information technology related programmes.

The graduates received Diplomas in Cybersecurity, Software Engineering and Data Analytics, while others were awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology.

The college is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast.

The ceremony, which was held in Accra yesterday, brought together members of academia, industry players, parents and guardians to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class and to reflect on the role of technology-driven education in national development.

The event saw the presentation of awards to five best performing students.

Quality

The Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Professor Augustine Ocloo, said although access to tertiary education had expanded over the year, it must match quality, relevance and employability.

He said institutions must go beyond producing graduates to developing human capital aligned with national development priorities and labour market needs.

“The future of Ghana depends not simply on the number of graduates we produce but on how well prepared they are to confront and solve real-life challenges,” he said.

Prof. Ocloo also urged graduates to uphold integrity in their professional practice, particularly in the use of digital technologies and to contribute to building a secure and trustworthy digital economy.

The Dean of Graduate Studies at UCC, Prof. Sarah Darkwa, also urged graduates to embrace lifelong learning and adaptability in the fast-changing global environment.

“Stay curious, remain adaptable and continue to seek knowledge.

The true measure of your success will not only be in personal achievements, but also in the positive impact you make in your communities and beyond,” she said.

SIIMT

The Founder and Rector of SIIMT University College, Dr Raju Sonavane, said the institution had since 2013 focused on delivering high-quality technical education through a blend of international and local academic approaches.

“Education is not just about earning a degree.

It is about building the courage to think, the confidence to act and the wisdom to choose the right path,” he said, urging graduates to make a difference in society and to uphold the values of the institution.
