This is how parents and guardians can be involved in the 2025 free SHS selection process which has been opened
The 2025 school selection process under the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates has officially begun.
The exercise commenced on May 27, 2025 and is scheduled to end on June 11, 2025. Authorities have indicated that the deadline will not be extended, and all candidates are expected to comply strictly with the timeline.
Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to take an active interest in the process. They are required to sign the completed selection forms and retain a copy for their records.
According to officials, once the selection and placement have been finalised, no changes will be allowed.
Under the new guidelines, each candidate is expected to select five schools of their choice and two additional schools, bringing the total to seven.
Candidates are required to choose one school from Category A, no more than two schools from Category B, and may select all five schools from Category C, if they so choose.
For candidates interested in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), all five choices must be from TVET institutions, following the same order of selection—one from Category A, no more than two from Category B, or all from Category C.
Of the five selected schools, three must be designated as boarding schools and two as day schools.
Speaking at a press briefing, the National Coordinator of the Free Senior High School programme, Benita Sena Okity-Duah, emphasised that placements would be merit-based. She reiterated that once a candidate is placed in a school, no changes will be entertained.
