Dubbed “Donate blood, save life”, the exercise, which also formed part of their corporate social responsibility, was held at the Hogbe Park at Anloga.

The President of the Universal Child Care Foundation, Miss Celestina Emefa Quarshie, indicated that the exercise was in response to appeals to stock the blood bank of the Keta Government Hospital.

She said her NGO was looking forward to making the exercise an annual event and hopefully extend it to other parts of the country.

“Thanks to corporate bodies such as Bel-Aqua Mineral water, Lymes Pharmaceutical Ltd, Glas Brown Company, Molti Pack Company Ltd, Masicco Company Ltd and Morado Company Ltd, we were able to pull this event together successfully.

We are very grateful to them and look forward to working with more corporate institutions in the years ahead,”she said. Miss Quarshie also extended gratitude to health officials from the Keta Government Hospital and the Regional Hospital in Ho for their support.

Speaking on behalf of the donors, the Commercial Manager of Bel Aqua,Ruben Kordorwu said they were happy to be associated with the event and called on other organisations to do same.

“Blood is very essential to the human body and you may never know when a friend or relative may be in need. We are hoping that this excercise would improve on the blood banks in the Volta Region.”
