Akyiaa Tiwaa is still head of Asaman Kanin family
The Asaaman Kanin Royal Family of Kwadaso in Abaase, headed by Obaapanin Akyiaa Tiwaa, has stated that a group parading in the name of the royal family and dealing with the Veterans Association of Ghana in Kumasi have no such mandate to deal with any group.
It has, therefore, disassociated itself from the actions of the said group and anything it has done and or agreed upon with the Veterans Association of Ghana.
This was contained in a statement in reaction to a publication in the July 29, 2014 edition of Daily Graphic titled ‘Asaman Kanin Family Kicks against ‘Atonement’ Fee at Kwadaso”.
The statement was signed by Mary Nsiah Asare of Owusu and Co. Chambers, lawyers for Obaapanin Akyiaa Tiwaa and the Asaman Kanin Royal Family of Kwadaso Abaase.
According to the family, the group purporting to be acting in the name of Asaman Kanin Royal Family and led by one Obaapanin Yaa Tiwaa had “no authority, sanction and or delegation” from the Obaapanin Akyiaa Tiwaa and the royal family to deal with the association on its behalf.
“That Obaapanin Yaa Tiwaa, named in the said publication as having led the group was the grandmother of the current head of the Asaman Kanin Royal Family who died in the year 1983 and could not have therefore been at the purported meeting with the Veterans Association of Ghana,” it said.
“That a certain Abusuapanin Ohene Tumfuor named in the publication as the Abusuapanin of the Asaman Kanin Royal Family is not the Abusuapanin of the Asaman Kanin Royal Family neither is he known to the family”, it said.
The statement cautioned the general public to avoid dealing with the said group, “particularly Madam Adwoa Adowaa and the other persons specifically named in the said publication as they have no authority whatsoever to represent the Asaman Kanin Royal Family.”
