Edward Koranteng: Former MIIF CEO resigns from Atlantic Lithium
Atlantic Lithium Limited has announced the resignation of Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng as its Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Board's Remuneration and Nomination Committee.
The resignation comes in the wake of Mr Koranteng’s removal from his position as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF).
His appointment as MIIF CEO was revoked by President John Dramani Mahama in a letter dated January 13, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama.
In a statement issued on January 24, Atlantic Lithium’s Finance Director and Company Secretary, Amanda Harsas, explained that Mr Koranteng served on the Board as MIIF’s nominee director. This role was established under the terms of a US$5 million subscription agreement between MIIF and Atlantic Lithium.
Ms Harsas further clarified that MIIF retains its right to appoint a replacement nominee director to the Board.
The Executive Chairman of Atlantic Lithium, Neil Herbert, expressed his appreciation for Mr Koranteng’s service, stating: “On behalf of the Atlantic Lithium Board and management team, I would like to extend my gratitude to Edward for his valued contributions to the Company during his tenure and wish him well in his future pursuits.”
The announcement marks the end of Mr Koranteng’s tenure with Atlantic Lithium, during which he played a significant role as part of the company’s leadership team.
