Attorney-General nominates three to General Legal Council

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Akurutinga Ayine, has nominated three individuals to serve on the General Legal Council (GLC), in accordance with Section 1(2) of the Legal Profession Act, 1960.

The nominees are Mr Francis Xavier Sosu, Member of Parliament for Madina; Mrs Clara Beeri Kasser Tee, a Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law; and Dr Abdul Bassit Aziz Bamba, a Senior Lecturer at the same institution.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice, Dr Ayine confirmed that the President had been duly informed of the nominations, signifying the government's commitment to strengthening the legal profession’s regulatory body.

The General Legal Council, which oversees legal education and professional conduct in Ghana, plays a crucial role in maintaining the standards of the legal profession.

The nomination of these individuals is expected to bring diverse expertise and experience to the Council, enhancing its mandate in regulating legal practice and training in the country.
