The Senior Staff Association of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) last Saturday embarked on a health walk on the theme, "Keep The Cedi Clean, Health is Wealth."
The walk, which started at the Ayi Mensah tollbooth and ended at the Peduase Lodge, was graced by the Governor of the BoG, Dr Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku, and his deputies, Mr Millison K. Narh and Dr Johnson P. Asiamah.
The walk was spiced up with brass band music to keep the staff going at a brisk pace till they completed the walk in an hour and 30 minutes.
The staff of the bank were later taken through an aerobics session at the forecourt of the Lodge Tavern by a fitness instructor.
According to the first Deputy Governor of the BoG, Mr Narh, the purpose of the walk was to sensitise the public to the need to keep the cedi notes clean.
"The theme of the walk is to educate the public on why we must keep the cedi notes clean because when the currency is mutilated, we have to withdraw it from circulation and we spend millions of dollars to reprint.
"That's why we decided to use this productive medium of a health walk to carry our message across to Ghanaians." he stressed.
He also commended the senior staff of the bank for the massive turnout for the walk.
