The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled a planned maintenance exercise in the Tema Region for Sunday, March 22, 2026, even as engineers continue to grapple with separate infrastructure failures in the Accra East and Volta Regions that have left several communities without power since Saturday.

According to an advisory issued by the power distributor earlier this month, the planned maintenance in the Tema Region will commence at 9:00 am and is expected to conclude by 3:00 pm.

The six-hour outage will affect a broad spectrum of industrial and residential localities, including Wildlife, Inzag, Eastern Quarries, Recycling, Twin Quarries, Derby Quarries RSG, Rainbow Paints, Pharmanova, Saglemi Housing, Fenice Metal, Boiko, Lakpleku, the Military Training School at Shai Hills and Bundase, along with surrounding areas. Technicians will be undertaking essential infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing service reliability in the industrial corridor.

Meanwhile, in the Accra East Region, customers in parts of Atomic are enduring an unplanned power outage following a burnt transformer at the Atomic Down Roundabout. In a statement issued Saturday, the ECG confirmed that the fault has affected Atomic Down, Regimanuel Unity Gate, and surrounding areas. The company has assured affected customers that engineers are working diligently to rectify the fault and restore normal supply as swiftly as possible.

A separate emergency has unfolded in the Volta Region, where a cable fault on the Dzodze Feeder has plunged several communities into darkness. According to the ECG, the fault was caused by a road contractor whose activities damaged the underground cable infrastructure. The affected areas include Tokor, Afiadenyigba, Atiteti, Ave Towns, Agborzume, Anlo, Nakyikope, Dzodze, and surrounding communities. Engineers have been deployed to the site to undertake repairs, with the company assuring customers that every effort is being made to restore power.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the unplanned outages. The company reiterated its commitment to ensuring the long-term reliability of the power network while urging customers to bear with engineers as they work to resolve the various faults and complete the necessary upgrades.
