Rescue teams from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have responded to several incidents at areas including Ningo, Miotso, Ridge hospital, Kasoa, Gomoa Nyanyano and Tema New town following the Monday morning floods in these areas.

The rains have triggered floods in parts of Accra, disrupting Monday morning activities in many areas.

The Tetteh Quashie interchange area is choked, with vehicles stuck in traffic. The section under the rail line overpass from the Spintex road roundabout (Action Chapel) towards the Polo Grounds and Hajj Village area is flooded, causing vehicular traffic congestion.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has issued an alert saying Accra and Tema areas are all experiencing flooding.

Abeka, Lapaz, Achimota, Dzorwulu, Tesano, and environs are heavily flooded.

In the south-western part of Accra, commuters from the Kasoa section towards Accra on the N1 highway through the Weija barrier and Mallam are experiencing disruptions with floodwaters taking over the road.

Many low-lying areas and along key arterial roads are experiencing floods, with vehicles moving slowly through submerged sections, while some motorists have been forced to abandon flooded routes.

Some of the affected areas are the.Tantra, N1 Highway, Apenkwa towards Tesano, the Accra–Kasoa stretch, Weija, Mallam, Achimota, Spintex, Atomic in Madina, Kaneshie, Darkuman Junction, portions of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, and other surrounding communities, according to residents and road users.

Some homes and shops in flood-prone communities are also inundated, forcing occupants to move belongings to safer locations as water levels continue to rise.
