CIMA Global honours past Ghana chairman
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Global has honoured its Immediate Past Ghana Branch Chairman, Mr Jonas Sowah Quaye, with its highest recognition award “The Plaque of the Institute.”
At an Honours Night event held in Accra on September 16, Mr Quaye, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Accountants (FCMA), was honoured for his immeasurable service and invaluable contribution to CIMA Ghana since 2001.
Also a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Mr Quaye has served CIMA at branch committee level in various positions including publicity secretary, vice President, president and chairman.
Before his retirement in 2012, he had served as Immediate Past Chairman for two years and also served on the African Regional Board and the African Branch Forum in 2011 and the Global Markets Committee the same year.
Presenting "The Plaque" on behalf of CIMA Global, the Ghana Branch Committee Chairman, Mr Augustine Kessie, highly praised Mr Quaye and urged all potential office holders to emulate his example, saying the sky should not limit them in their aspirations.
Citation
The citation accompanying "The Plaque" acknowledged Mr Quaye’s role in the development and growth of the CIMA Brand in Ghana and his untiring efforts towards recognition for the management accountancy profession in Ghana.
It said through Mr Quaye’s efforts, the CIMA qualification was generally recognised by businesses and CIMA qualified management accountants were now positioned in key roles where they were driving success.
Acceptance
In accepting the award, Mr Quaye expressed happiness to be of service to CIMA, saying: “It has been a pleasure giving back to the profession, serving CIMA and seeing so many young talented accountants come in through the ranks.
Mr Quaye who is currently the Chief Executive Officer at JOSOQU Investments, a private equity fund, retired from active service as the General Manager of Air Ghana in 2011.
During the Honours Night event, nine top performers in the 2015 examination of CIMA were awarded Certificates of Recognition; six past finalists were acknowledged, 15 new members of the Association of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMAs) and an FCMA were recognised as well.
