ECG announces Sunday power outages across Accra West and Tema regions for planned & emergency maintenance
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled planned and emergency maintenance exercises across the Accra West and Tema Regions for Sunday, May 10, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and strengthen the stability of the national grid.
According to advisories issued by the power distributor, the outages will commence at varying times across affected areas, with durations depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.
In the Accra West Region, a planned maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting an extensive list of communities, including Sakyikrom, Voltic, Abaka Quarry, Annoff, Maame Dede, Adeiso township, Hearts Park, Sarpeiman, Opah, Opah new site, Agya Appiah, Hebron, Dobro, parts of Medie, Isada roofing, Amasaman stadium, China Mall, Toman, Satellite, DVLA, Blue Skies, Medie, Parks and Gardens, Kotoku onion market, Dome Sampaman, and surrounding areas.
A separate emergency maintenance operation in the same region will also run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Abossey Okai, Zongo Junction, Korlebu Polyclinic, Doblo, Hebron, Medie, Sarpeiman, Satellite, Mecedonia, Stadium Road, Pobi Kope, Kotoku, Papase, Adeiso, Pokrom, Obuodaka, Amanfrom, Maame Dede, Asuaba, Anoff, Kwesi Tenten, Danso, Coaltar, Dorkrochiwa, and surrounding areas. The inclusion of Korlebu Polyclinic in the affected areas may impact healthcare services, and the ECG has urged the facility to make contingency arrangements.
In the Tema Region, a planned maintenance operation will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, impacting Fan Milk, Tarzan, Gbewaa Bitumen, Toyota Warehouse, Tropical Cable, Multi Pac, Mekeon, Desan Steel, Westrafo, and surrounding areas. The five-hour outage will affect key industrial and manufacturing facilities in the region.
In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities.
The company reassured the public that the planned and emergency exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
