The donation formed part of the church’s social responsibility and activities to mark the 25th anniversary of the circuit.

Presenting the amount and the items to the management of the orphanage, the Superintendent Minister, Very Rev. Emmanuel Kwesi Arhin, said the gesture was in response to the fire disaster that recently gutted the orphanage’s kitchen, stores and other facilities, and for which the management called for help from the church.

According to him, the church was committed to helping the less privileged in society, and it was in recognition of this that they decided to donate the amount and used clothing, among others, to alleviate the plight of the inmates.

Very Rev. Arhin said the time had come for the Christian community to give back to society, particularly the afflicted and needy, to enhance their lives.

“The less privileged in society need the church to assure them that there is faith in Christ Jesus and being kind to them will help to avert some of the social vices we are witnessing today,” he added.

He called on parents to plan their families in order not to put the gifts of life which are children from God in danger.

The manager of the orphanage, Very Rev. Ekow Sey, thanked the circuit for the gesture.

He recounted that the orphanage was established in 2007 with five children but presently had 35 children with the oldest being 13 years and the least under one year.

He also called on the society, social and corporate bodies as well as benevolent groups to assist the centre with resources to increase their capacity to admit more needy orphans.

Very Rev. Ekow Sey further explained that the centre had its own school facility which was also opened to the communities surrounding it; a psychologist and minister who helped to train the children in a manner that made it easier to integrate them into society.
