Farmers, input suppliers educated on plant law

More than 50 farmers and agro input suppliers in the East Mamprusi District have been educated on the Plants and Fertiliser Act, Act 803.

The sensitisation programme, organised by the Ghana Agriculture Association Business and Information Centre (GAABIC), a non-governmental organisation, sought to make the participants appreciate the content of the Act.

The Plants and Fertiliser Act, 2010, Act 803 regulates the production, manufacture, import, export and distribution of various agro-inputs and other allied matters in the country.

Fake fertilisers

At the event, the Project Leader of GAABIC, Mr Isaac Kombat, said most stakeholders in the agricultural sector were unaware of the content of Act 803, and therefore did not apply its directives to derive the benefits that the Act prescribed.
