Former President Kufuor pays tribute to late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has paid a glowing tribute to the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, describing him as “a grace and a gift not just to his family, but to Ghana and the entire African continent.”
The remarks were made during a courtesy visit by Sarah Adwoa Safo, a former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya and daughter of the late Apostle, who led a delegation of the Safo family to the former President’s residence in Aburi.
Reflecting on Apostle Safo’s life, Mr Kufuor stated that every individual has a season and purpose, and the late inventor fulfilled his divine calling with distinction.
“Apostle lived his life well and told his own story before his passing,” he said. He further commended the unity and strength of the Safo family, noting that Apostle Safo “nurtured his children well.”
The former President shared memories of his personal connection with the renowned industrialist, recalling that during his presidency, he recognised Apostle Safo’s contributions to national development with a state award, although the Apostle was unable to attend the ceremony.
Mr Kufuor also spoke of attending one of Apostle Safo’s technology exhibitions in Gomoa in September 2024, where global participation underscored “how far his work and personality appealed globally.”
Expressing his commitment to honouring the late icon, Mr Kufuor pledged to attend the 40th Day observation for Apostle Safo at the University of Ghana, Legon, and urged the family to ensure a dignified burial befitting his legacy.
Sarah Adwoa Safo, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude for Mr Kufuor’s unwavering support and guidance.
She affirmed the family’s resolve to rely on his “rich experience and guidance” as they work to preserve and advance their late father’s legacy.
