Four Western Central Police officers promoted for outstanding service
The Ghana Police Service has promoted four officers of the Western Central Regional Police Command in recognition of their exceptional diligence, professionalism, and commitment to duty.
The officers were instrumental in intercepting armed suspects linked to a high-profile murder case, demonstrating swift and exemplary policing.
The officers—No. 47459 G/Sgt. Fetus Gameli Kukuia, No. 52192 G/Cpl. Christian Asare, No. 52441 G/Cpl. Nicholas Kingsley Amoah, and No. 59947 G/Const. Adam Yakubu—have been promoted to the ranks of Inspector, Sergeant, and Lance Corporal, respectively.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with the Police Management Board (POMAB), commended the officers for their extraordinary efforts and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to rewarding excellence.
The IGP noted that such promotions serve as both motivation and a strong signal that exceptional performance will not go unnoticed.
This commendation follows an incident on April 30, 2025, a day after the tragic murder of five individuals at Asiyaw near Nsawam. Acting on intelligence, the Western Central Regional Police Command intercepted a Grand Bird Bus at Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong.
A thorough search led to the arrest of three suspects—Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab—and the recovery of a submachine gun (SMG) and twenty-one rounds of ammunition.
Under interrogation, suspect Hakeem Imoro revealed that the weapon was handed to him by his superior, identified as Samuel Atsu Forson alias Alanyo, who was already in custody in connection with the Asiyaw murders.
Further investigations confirmed the suspects’ direct involvement in the case and their attempted flight from the jurisdiction.
The Police Service has praised the officers’ vigilance and quick action in intercepting the suspects, stating that their conduct was a prime example of operational excellence.
The Service further reiterated its unwavering dedication to recognising officers who go above and beyond in the fight against crime.
