Ghana embassy in Qatar calls for urgent registration of nationals over security concerns

The Embassy of Ghana in Doha has directed all Ghanaian nationals living in the State of Qatar to register with the mission as part of emergency preparedness measures amid rising tensions in the region.

In a statement issued on March 2, 2026, the Embassy urged Ghanaians who have not yet registered to do so without delay, stating that the exercise will support communication and assistance if the security situation worsens.

According to the Embassy, the registration will allow the mission to reach citizens quickly, provide consular services and, where necessary, coordinate evacuation arrangements.

“All Ghanaians in Qatar, including students, workers, families and visitors, are required to complete the registration form,” the statement said.

The Embassy said the directive follows “heightened tensions and unrest within the region,” although it did not point to any specific incident. It added that the registration is strictly for emergency preparedness and consular purposes.

The process is being carried out through an online form, and the Embassy said all information provided will be treated as confidential and used only for official purposes.

The mission also said it will continue to share updates through its official communication channels as the situation develops.

Ghanaians living in Qatar who have not yet registered have been advised to do so promptly to allow the Embassy to reach them and provide assistance in the event of an emergency.
