She also stressed the need for all stakeholders to play their respective roles to help curb the escalating incidents of road crashes and fatalities.

While giving the assurance of the government's continuous investment in road safety infrastructure, she said it was important for stakeholders to work together to curb the triggers of road crashes.

Mrs Osei-Opare said the inauguration of the new regional office for the Greater Accra DVLA showed that the government was committed to resourcing public institutions to deliver on their mandate.

"This great investment represents the future of Ghana’s public service and not just an edifice," she said.

Mr Busia said the inauguration of the Greater Accra Regional DVLA office was a testament to the authority's commitment to putting in place systems and infrastructure that would facilitate quality service delivery.

While describing the edifice as a key milestone for the DVLA, he said it was only a springboard on which the authority would continue to deploy innovation and technology to boost service delivery.

"This new office will serve as a new chapter of DVLA where we will leverage technology, artificial intelligence, and other innovations to enhance customer service and promote safer roads," he said.

Mr Busia added that more regional and district offices were ongoing across the country to bring the services of the authority closer to the people.

Collaboration

For his part, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, commended the Ministry of Transport and the DVLA for their transformational leadership in the road sector.

In a statement delivered on his behalf by the Chief Director of the ministry, Prof. Patrick Agbesinyale, the minister said the collaboration between the Lands and Natural Resources and the Transport ministries that led to the putting up of the building, demonstrated how state institutions could collaborate to achieve the country's development agenda.

Mr Tampuli, who also delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, urged officials of the DVLA to be cognizant of the fact that the investment in infrastructure was not an end in itself, but an impetus to quality service delivery.

"The success story of the DVLA cannot be told in terms of the size of its offices but by the quality of its service delivery," he said.

He bemoaned the escalating incidence of road crashes and called on all stakeholders to play their part in restoring sanity to the road.
