Kwahu Paragliding Festival begins April 18

The Kwahu Paragliding Festival, which has become an international event attracting hundreds of tourists to the country, is gearing up for its 20th edition, promising yet another unforgettable adventure for thrill-seekers and tourists alike. 

It is set to take place from April 18 to 21, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day on the picturesque summit of the Odweanoma Mountains in Atibie-Kwahu.

The festival is organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) every year under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, in collaboration with the Ghana Tourist Development Company.

The rest are the Kwahu East District Assembly, the Kwahu West and Kwahu South municipal assemblies, the Kwahu Development Association, Kwahu Tourism Initiative and the Kwahu Traditional Council.

Activities

Seasoned tandem pilots from around the world have been invited to fly passengers during the four-day event from the Odweanoma Mountain to the Nkawkaw stadium.

Among them are Blake Daniel Pelton (USA), Lamina Ilea (Romania), Eduardo Reategui Vera (Peru), Edward Allan Stein (USA), Hugen Muhlich (Germany), Chuck Smith (USA) and Jonathan Quaye (Ghana).

Additional activities incorporated into the 2025 paragliding festival are health walk, fun games, children's games, electronic games, fun dance competition, proverb challenge and outdoor games such as oware, ludu, playing cards and draughts.

There will also be music to entertain patrons and the sale of food, souvenir and tour packages.

The rate for the paragliding festival is GH¢1,350 per flight.

Early bird tickets put on sale between March 18 to 31, 2025 cost GH¢1,250.

Significance

Paragliding has come to add to the unique Easter celebrations in the Kwahu area, attracting a heavy presence of diasporans and foreign revellers.

It is considered the peak of the Easter festivities in the mountainous Kwahu area, adding spice to days of merry making, networking, reunions, recreation and religious ceremonies
