Let’s celebrate Easter in moderation — Gunu, Kpotosu

The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has entreated the public to renew their spirit of patriotism and unite as Ghanaians with a common purpose to support the government to move the nation forward during the Easter celebration.

“Christ sacrificed his life for mankind. And we can also make sacrifices for our nation by working hard and consolidating the peace,” he said in an Easter message last Sunday.

Mr Gunu said Easter was not a period for binge drinking and gluttony, but a time of cleansing one’s self of evil acts and motives and helping the less privileged in society.

“This is the time for us to reunite as children of the same father and one nation to move forward,” the regional minister added.

Mr Gunu pointed out that Jesus dined with Gentiles as well and not only the Jews; and that signified love for all mankind, “which we must all emulate.”

He urged the youth to avoid drunkenness and lawless conduct during the celebration, saying those manners did not serve the purpose of Easter.

In a related development, the NDC Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, called on the constituents to forgive those who wronged them and live in harmony as one people.

He said one’s allegiance to the country was more important than individual and parochial considerations, which may not serve the national interest.

“So, let us not divide ourselves with unnecessary and worthless attitudes,” the MP said.

Mr Kpotosu implored the people to demonstrate their love for one another during Easter by sharing the little they had with others.

“Let brotherly love prevail during the Easter period,” he said.
