NPC urges students to champion peaceful coexistence
The National Peace Council (NPC) has called on students to embrace discipline, mutual respect, and values that foster peaceful coexistence both in schools and their broader communities.
Speaking at the Kaneshie Senior High Technical School (SHTS) as part of an ongoing series of engagements with second-cycle institutions, the NPC’s Director of Capacity Development and Outreach, Janet Sarney-Kuma, urged students to reject bullying, practice tolerance, and become active advocates for peace.

She highlighted various forms of conflict and outlined practical strategies for resolution among peers and within school environments. She encouraged students to remain purposeful, law-abiding, and committed to their studies.
“Take your education seriously, use social media responsibly, and never carry weapons to school or any gathering. Possessing a weapon is an offence, and security agencies will arrest offenders.”
In response, the Headmaster of Kaneshie SHTS, Paul Mensah Egyir, commended the NPC for the initiative and called for continuous engagement to strengthen peace education among students.
The NPC’s Capacity Development and Outreach Directorate has already engaged students in three schools and plans to expand the peace promotion drive to additional institutions in the coming weeks.
