UNESCO, GTA, others endorse Jazzin’ Africa Festival

Ghana is to host the Jazzin’ Africa Festival 2025, scheduled for October 25, 2025, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, with one of Ghana’s finest saxophonists, Steve Bedi, featuring as the headline performer.

Also performing on the night will be a special guest from the USA, Tom Braxton, Ayi Solomon (Denmark), Dudu Makhoba (South Africa), and Albino Mbie (Mozambique) — bringing together some of the world’s most exciting contemporary jazz voices on one stage.

The line-up of these exceptional artists from across the continent and beyond is intended to celebrate a soul-stirring night of African jazz, instrumental brilliance and musical fusion.
Jazzin’ Africa Festival 2025 is a flagship event of Jazzin’ Africa, organised by Bedisfy Entertainments.

Africa’s pride

Ahead of the festival, a number of stakeholder organisations have endorsed the event, describing it as a unique celebration of not just Mr Bedi, but also showing the jazz world what Africa has to offer.

Among the stakeholders are the UNESCO, the National Commission on Culture (NCC) and the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President (DAOOP).

Also, the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and Pan Africa Ghana (PAG) — recognising the festival’s cultural significance and its commitment to promoting African music, creativity and cross-cultural collaboration.

It said the jazz festival was not just recognising  Bedi, a former UNAIDS-Ghana PTG Goodwill Ambassador, but stirring up a movement to spotlight the brilliance of African jazz and celebrate the instrumentalists and vocalists who have long been the unsung heroes of the music industry.

The endorsement by these esteemed institutions affirms Jazzin’ Africa’s mission to spotlight Africa’s creative excellence, strengthen Ghana’s global cultural presence, and foster partnerships that bridge nations through music.

Mr Bedi, who is also the Artistic Director of Jazzin’ Africa Festival, said the festival also aimed to build a sustainable cultural platform that resonated with Ghana’s “The Black Star Experience”, reinforcing the country’s image as a vibrant centre of arts, heritage, and innovation in Africa.

This festival is about restoring pride in African jazz, giving instrumentalists and singers a platform to shine, and creating a Pan-African musical experience that can travel the world,” he stated.
