Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa arrives for 3-day visit

The President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has arrived in the country for a three-day State visit. President John Dramani Mahama welcomed the Zimbabwean leader at the Accra International Airport yesterday to begin the State visit.

President Mnangagwa was received with full military honours, , including an inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces and a 21-gun salute, marking the start of a visit focused on deepening bilateral relations.

President Mahama was accompanied by senior government and security officials, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, and the National Security Advisor to the President, Prosper Douglas Bani.

Activities lined up include a State Banquet in his honour, a tête-à-tête and expanded delegation talks at the Peduase Lodge, targeting enhanced cooperation in trade, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, sanitation, and joint efforts to address corruption and unemployment.

The two leaders are also expected to witness the signing of key Memoranda of Understanding.

President Mnangagwa will visit the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC) and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, where he will receive briefings on Ghana's progress in healthcare delivery and waste management technologies.

President Mnangagwa will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he will lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana's founding father.

The President will depart on Friday with full departure honours at the Jubilee Lounge.

The visit underscores the strong and longstanding ties between Ghana and Zimbabwe, reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing a strategic partnership for sustainable development.
