MoU details

The MoU was signed at a short ceremony in Accra between representatives of the two organisations.

The Acting Director of Newspapers, Mrs Mavis Kitcher, and the acting Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Kingsley K. Inkoom, signed on behalf of the GCGL, while the Editor of the Global Times, Mr Wang Bozun, signed for his organisation.

According to the MoU, the two organisations will exchange information on events organised by either the GCGL or the Global Times without any obligation on both organisations.

"Neither party will have any objection or interference with each other's editorial policies but will be independent to make changes in each other's material according to their own editorial policies, without changing the basic idea of the said material of the article," the MoU said.

Per the MoU, the GCGL and the Global Times would be bound to respect the authenticity and integrity of the original news materials provided by each other.

She said the partnership would further deepen the already existing relationship between Ghana and China, particularly in the area of news sharing.

Mrs Kitcher said the GCGL would abide by the agreement and do everything possible to ensure the fruitfulness of the two-year partnership.

Global Times determined

Mr Bozun said he had great respect for GCGL, adding: “I believe the partnership with Ghana's biggest media organisation will yield many benefits."

Already, he said, Chinese people had a lot of respect and cared a lot about the working relationship with Ghanaians, noting that the partnership would further enhance the relationship between the two countries.
