The Bono Regional correspondent of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL), Biiya Mukusah Ali, has been adjudged the 2024 Overall Best Journalist in Bono and Ahafo regions.
At the third edition of the Bono and Ahafo Chapter of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) Awards, Mr Mukusah stole the show by picking three other awards, bringing his total haul to four out of the 13 categories won for the year.
They were the Best Political Reporter, Best Agroecology Reporter and Best Newspaper Reporter.
Prize
For his prize, Mr Mukusah received two laptops, plaques and citations.
The MTN and ActionAid Ghana, who were among the sponsors of the programme, presented the two laptops to Mr Mukusah for winning the Overall Best Journalist and Agroecology categories, respectively.
The other seven journalists who won awards at the ceremony are Lawrence Yeboah Gyan of Suncity Radio, best feature reporter and News Anchor (English), Emmanuel Kwadwo Gyan of Sky FM, best feature reporter (Radio) and Claude Kumi Abisa of Onua TV, best Health Reporter.
The rest are Jasmine Akwaboah of Moonlite FM, best female journalist, Michael Sarpong Mfum of Channel One TV, best Education and Telecommunications reporter, Samuel Mensah of Peace FM, best crime reporter and Osei Laar of Suncity Radio, best News Anchor (Twi).
The programme was held on the theme: "The Role of the Media as a Tool for Peace Building and Development in the Bono and Ahafo Regions."
It was organised to recognise and celebrate outstanding journalistic work in 13 categories.
Mr Mukusah thanked his editors at the GCGL, who he said had continued to challenge, coach, inspire, and support him to progress in his journalism career.
He said the Bono and Ahafo regions have experienced senior journalists who can groom up-and-coming journalists to the highest level and urged his colleague journalists to tap into their experiences to improve their skills.
