Amenyo pleaded guilty on both counts when he appeared before a Magistrate’s court, and was remanded into police custody.

The facts of the case as presented to the court by Chief Inspector Yeboah are that the complainants are policemen from the Regional Operation Unit whilst Amenyo is a head porter at Agbogbloshie.

Prosecutor Yeboah told the court, presided over by Ms Arit Nsemoh, that on March 22, 2016 whilst the police and military were on joint patrol in town, they had information that a group of people had attacked a soldier at Agbogbloshie.

The team proceeded to the scene and met Amenyo being rescued from some good Samaritans while his assailants took to their heels on seeing the patrol cars.

Amenyo identified himself to the patrol team as a soldier, but when questioned about basic military disciplines Amenyo couldn’t answer.

This prompted the team to arrest him for investigations.

During interrogation he confessed that he was not a soldier but rather, a barracks boy at the 37 Military Hospital.

C/Inspector Yeboah told the court that during investigations an unnumbered handcuff and a photograph of him in military uniform were retrieved. Investigations are still on-going
