Man who stole church musical instruments jailed 4 years in Hohoe

The Volta North Regional Police Command has secured the conviction of a 27-year-old man, Mohammed Rafiu, for unlawful entry and theft of musical instruments from a church in Hohoe in the Volta Region.

Mohammed Rafiu was observed near the Faith International Ministry Church on June 5, 2026, carrying a sack containing various items and rushing to stop a commercial vehicle. 

Witnesses became suspicious, approached him, and checked the contents of the sack.

They found inside one amplifier, one equalizer, and a mixer machine, all belonging to the church.

Rafiu was arrested and taken to the Hohoe Police District, where he admitted to the charges.

On Monday, June 8, he appeared before the Hohoe Circuit Court, pleaded guilty to two counts, and was convicted. He received three years for unlawful entry and four years for stealing, with both sentences to run concurrently.
