I have no supply contract with COCOBOD – McDan Shipping CEO
The Chief Executive Officer of McDan Shipping Company, Mr Daniel McCauley has denied claims by the Minority in Parliament that he has secured a supply contract with the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Accra based radio station, Starr FM has reported.
According to the radio station, Mr McCauley has also refuted claims that he leveraged on a perceived relationship with the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta to secure a GH¢10.45million ADB Bank loan.

The radio station reported that Mr McCauley explained that he secured the loan purely on a business basis.
The Minority in Parliament at a press conference on Tuesday accused Mr Ofori-Atta of usurping the authority of the board of ADB by approving the credit facility to McDan Shipping Company.
The Minority also claimed that Mr Ofori-Atta breached the procurement law in the award of a COCOBOD contract to McDan Shiipping Company.

But speaking to Starr FM, Mr McCauley denied having any supply contract with COCOBOD.

“The arrangement was purely a business transaction. The accusations are palpably false and the minister could not have usurped the powers of the ADB board. I don’t have any supply contract with COCOBOD. I am a client of ADB and I got the credit facility based on merit. I am a businessman and will not do anything to dent the reputation of my business,” the radio station quoted him as having said.

Meanwhile, Mr Ofori-Atta has also rejected the claims by the Minority that he breached due process by approving the loan facility.
