The Ghana Police Service has said the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno is alive and performing his duties.
In a statement issued on Sunday, November 30, 2025, reacting to reports circulating on social media claiming that Mr Yohuno has passed, the police administration described the claim as “categorically false.”
The statement said the police had taken note of speculation and urged officers, families and the general public to disregard the rumour.
“The attention of the Ghana Police Service has been drawn to some speculation that the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, is deceased. We wish to state that these reports are false,” the statement said.
The police administration cautioned individuals responsible for circulating the misinformation, noting that “disinformation constitutes an offence and perpetrators will be brought to justice when identified.”
It described the claims as “malicious, insensitive and reckless”, adding that the matter was being taken seriously.
Mr Yohuno continues to carry out his duties as the head of the service.
The police urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary fear among personnel and the wider public.
