Injured El-Wak victims, families of deceased included in Armed Forces recruitment
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the completion of the selection process for the first batch of 2,000 recruits, who are expected to begin training soon.
The selected candidates are to report to their respective regional selection centres on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to receive their appointment letters and prospectus.
In a press release signed by the Acting Director-General of Public Relations, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the GAF stated that the intake forms part of a broader recruitment exercise to be conducted in four batches.
Special considerations
The statement noted that the first batch includes 18 individuals who were injured during the El-Wak Stadium stampede last year, as well as five persons sponsored by families of victims who died in the incident.
The GAF also indicated that consideration was being given to including, in the second batch, individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region who assisted during last year’s helicopter crash rescue operation.
Further opportunities
The Armed Forces encouraged applicants who were unable to pass the medical screening due to curable conditions to seek treatment, assuring them that they would be invited for a review at no cost at a later date.
It also expressed appreciation to all 16 regional administrations for their support in decentralising the recruitment process in line with government policy.
The GAF further urged remaining applicants to remain calm, explaining that a pool of candidates with high aptitude test scores would be considered for subsequent batches.
